After severe weather that rolled through the area Thursday forced the Lenoir City Lady Panthers’ softball game with William Blount to be canceled, they were back on the field against another district opponent Friday when they hosted Knoxville Catholic.
Lenoir City lost the game 3-0 despite a solid pitching performance from freshman Morgan Millsaps.
Millsaps struck out eight batters over seven innings and gave up just three runs.
The bats of the Lady Panthers were quiet, though, as they managed just four hits, no walks and no runs against Catholic.
Senior Amanda Hatfield, Millsaps, Lexi Henry and Ashlyn Zeller recorded Lenoir City’s four hits.
Zeller and Millsaps each singled in the third, giving the Lady Panthers their best chance to score a run in the game, but never advanced beyond second base.
With the loss, Lenoir City falls to 5-10 this season. Their only district win came in a 12-8 victory over West High School.
The Lady Panthers will travel to Heritage Monday night before returning home to take on Farragut Tuesday.
They will continue a busy week when they travel to Loudon Wednesday and host Bearden Thursday. All games are at 5:30 p.m.
