With the fourth annual Forget Me Not 5K scheduled for April 20, organizers have opened up sponsorship opportunities for the race.
Coming off its most successful year to date, the race has partnered once again with The Pat Summitt Foundation in hopes to have an even stronger 2013. "Of course, we hope to be bigger and better," race organizer Angela Wampler said. "I think Pat Summitt is going to become more involved. She's doing a radio spot, maybe some video spots for us. Hopefully that will generate a lot more interest in it and more sponsorships."
Sponsorship levels vary for the event, ranging from a "Friends of Alzheimer's" sponsorship for donations under $250, which will list the sponsors name on a banner at the start or finish line, to a $2,500 title sponsorship, which will provide "recognition as a major event co-sponsor."
"We'll take any donation, of course," Wampler said. "We have sponsorships in between ($250 and $2,500). Those sponsorships will be able to have their names out there on all of the race forms and be listed on our websites. We'll have T-shirts and they'll be able to have a booth at the event and promote any materials they will have. Last year we had about 15 or so mainly local sponsors, which has been great."
In the 2012 race, 482 people took part, which was up from 210 the year before.
Wampler said she hopes to see continued growth in the event and feels the race's partnership with The Pat Summitt Foundation can continue to provide a way to do so.
