While the Lady Redskins didn't take the prettiest route, an ugly win is still better than a loss.

Loudon High School knocked off Harriman 58-30 in the final game of the Loudon Thanksgiving Classic.

Zoe Grimes was the most effective offensive player for the Lady Redskins. She tied Aspen Jordan for a game-high 15 points, knocking down four of seven from the field while hitting seven of nine free throws.

Jordan hit just five of 13 shots from the field and five of 11 at the charity stripe, but made up for offensive struggles with 16 rebounds and five blocks in the game.

Jordan was not the only Loudon player to compensate for poor shooting in other areas. Bre Snow, two of 10 from the field, picked up six assists, four rebounds and three steals. Senior Haley Henry, two of nine, finished with seven rebounds.

"I thought we came tonight really flat and we didn't execute well and we didn't play with much toughness," Lady Redskins' coach Bryant Collins said. "After half time I thought we came out and played a lot tougher. We've still got a long way to go, a lot of execution stuff we're not doing right, but I'm glad to be 3-1. I'm satisfied with that."

The Lady Redskins led 27-14 at the half, but a 20-point third quarter put the game out of reach for Harriman. For the second consecutive game, Loudon was able to dig into its bench late in the contest, and after a sloppy last few minutes the night before Collins' young players managed the game much more successfully Saturday.

"I told them that, just try to have something positive today, and today was better than yesterday, so that's good," Collins said. "I think yesterday helped them a little bit."

Loudon's boys were handed their first loss earlier in the day, falling 88-56 to McMinn Central. Loudon shot just over 31 percent from the field in the game and only five of 26 shots from beyond the arc.
Ty Hairston, with 11 points, and Jordan Belvin, who added 13, were the only double-digit scorers. The two combined to shoot just 32 percent in the game.

The Redskins are in transition to an up-tempo style of play, running a full-court defense and fast-paced offense. In Saturday's loss, McMinn Central was able to break the full-court press for quick scoring chances at the basket, hitting just six three-point shots as part of their 88 points.

Loudon traveled to Sequoyah Tuesday after the News-Herald presstime. The Redskins return home Thursday to host Wartburg.
They host Lenoir City Dec. 7.
