More than 30 clubs, charitable organizations and individuals were honored for their service to Loudon and Monroe counties during the President's and Honor Awards Luncheon this past week at the Yacht Club in Tellico Village.

Members of the Tellico Village Honor Awards Committee handed out awards in community and education service, as well as individual awards during the event, while Property Owners Association Board of Directors President Bob Coates named five recipients of the President's Award.

"The extent of volunteerism of our Villagers is truly amazing," Coates said. "An unbelievable number of hours have been contributed working both inside and outside the Village to help organizations and individuals in both Loudon and Monroe counties."

Coates said President's Award winners can include POA board members, advisory committee members and other individuals who have assisted the POA.

Those honored include Tom Broniecki, Carol Moehrke, Lou Robitaille, Claire Frazer and Ginny Ranck.

Coates said Broniecki played a big part in organizing the 25th anniversary parade that took place this summer. Broniecki is also on the POA Communications and Marketing Advisory Committee.

"He single-handedly secured hundreds of dollars in donations from local businesses and individuals," Coates said. "He was able to get more than 70 people to donate their time and effort to bring the event to life."

Moehrke received the President's Award for her painting and maintenance at golf course clubhouses and restrooms.

"She has done all of this for just the cost of paint," Coates said. "Her work is extraordinary and has saved the POA many thousands of dollars."

Robitaille has volunteered in numerous events in the Village this year, including working as a disc jockey during the April 25 recreation celebration and at the Tiki Bar at the Yacht Club.

"Lou embodies the ultimate Villager," Coates said. "His eagerness is inspiring and his sense of community manifests itself in a willingness to get out there and make everyone have fun."

Claire Frazer and Ginny Ranck, who are members of the POA board, were honored for organizing the series of 25th anniversary events that took place through the year in the Village.

"Claire and Ginny have volunteered hundreds of hours this year bringing us the 25th Anniversary events we have all enjoyed," Coates said.
