The Greenback Youth Football Organization (GYFO) opened the 2009 playoff season with two losses, leaving the club with just one team remaining for the season.

Midway Crickets 26,
Greenback Crickets 0
The Greenback Crickets were winless through the regular season, and were unable to overcome a potent Midway team in the conference's consolation bracket. After trailing 6-0 through the first quarter, Greenback's Holden Willis broke loose for a 68-yard touchdown to even the score. But the Green Waves fired back, scoring twice in the second quarter to secure an 18-6 halftime advantage.
Midway added another score in the third quarter, and with the PAT, the scoring was complete. Holden Willis led Greenback with 109 rushing yards and was awarded the Offensive Most Valuable Player recognition. The Cherokees' Benton Byrum earned the defensive award.

Riceville Juniors 14,
Greenback Juniors 6

Facing Riceville for the second consecutive game, the Cherokees started the contest on fire, blocking a punt deep in Riceville territory that led to a four-yard Jaden Mylenek touchdown. The conversion failed, but Greenback took an early 6-0 lead.
But from there, it was all Riceville as the Wildcats put up 14 unanswered points, holding the Cherokee offense out of scoring position for the remainder of the contest.
Jaden Mylenek was named the Greenback Offensive Player of the Game. Defensively, Hunter McCarter at middle linebacker earned the recognition.

Saturday, Greenback's second-seeded Hopper team takes on the three seed Riceville at Riceville's field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
