The Loudon Redskins will face a unique challenge Friday night as they travel to Scott County with just three days of preparation for the Highlanders.
Due to torrential rain and lightning all across East Tennessee, the Redskins' game against Sweetwater was pushed from Friday night to Monday night. Now, the Redskins will travel just four days later to Scott County, a team that likes to throw the ball quite often.
"Scott County does a lot of different things, so we're going to have to step it up a bit," Loudon Head Coach Jeff Harig said.
He added that the short period between games would likely have an effect on his team's preparation and gameplan entering Friday night. "We may have to be a little more paired down and simplistic than we normally would do," the coach explained.
The Highlanders have had their struggles this year, currently sporting a 3-4 overall record and having yet to win a District 4(2A) game this season. So far this season, Scott County has defeated Sequoyah 15-0, Southwestern (Ky.) 35-30 and Cannon County 20-14. They've been defeated by York Institute 24-21, Kingston 34-27, Alcoa 42-15 and CAK 49-28.
The last time the teams faced off was in 2004, when Loudon came away with a convincing 29-0 win. Loudon is undefeated in the last three matchups with Scott County. The Highlanders have yet to post a winning record in the past seven years, though they have posted a pair of .500 marks in that time.
Loudon is coming off a 45-0 win over Sweetwater, which extended the Redskins' winning streak to three straight games. The Redskins (5-2, 1-2) will be able to even up their district record with a win over Scott County Friday night.
