recently at the Pilot Aquatic Club's January Classic.
Eight-year-old swimmers Jake Mason, Mason Fischer and Tanner Alexander each won individual races, while McKenzie Chittum, Sidney Ozcan, John Schwall and Carly Wrobleski scored points for the team. Swimmers recorded personal bests in 192 of the 317 total swims for the team. Swimmers in the upper age group also fared well. Colby Maupin, Alton Alexander, Vidar Hondorf, Jake Mason, Cameron Holcomb, Ethan Chou and Sydney Ragsdale achieved southeastern swimming qualifying times in multiple events for their respective age groups. In total, 12 swimmers met the southeastern qualifying times and five met sectional qualifying times. "There were lots of people on a big stage and lots of examples of stepping up to the challenge and pressure," swim coach Mike Bowman said. "We don't plan to stop there. We will continue to improve." ACAC's next event is the ACAC Lois Weir Invitational Swim Meet, which is held Friday through Sunday at the Oak Ridge Civic Center. Copyright © 2013, News-Herald |
