The North Panthers entered Tuesday night's regular season finale needing a win to finish at .500.
That win did not come as North's offensive woes led to a 22-6 loss at the hands of Jacksboro Middle School.

Defensively, the Panthers held strong on the first two series of the game, but struggled to do much with the ball.

Quarterback David Deacon threw an interception on North's second drive, setting up Jacksboro's first touchdown, a 37-yard pass.

The two-point conversion attempt was good, putting North in an early 8-0 hole.

On the next drive Zane Bowen fumbled for North, but three plays later John Sims was able to intercept the ball to give possession back to the Panthers.

It would be a possession North could do nothing with as they went three and out.

Jacksboro scored through the air again, this time for 52 yards on a fourth down and 15 play.

North trailed 14-0 at the break. Coming out of half time Tyler Dutton mishandled the kickoff, giving the up their opening possession and setting up Jacksboro's third touchdown, a three-yard run.

On the next drive, the Panthers fumbled the ball away again, their fourth turnover of the game.

Defensively, the team stepped up, holding Jacksboro to a turnover on downs as the fourth quarter began.

Austin Sharpe took the snap on a second and 14 play from the North seven and rushed 93 yards for a touchdown.

The two-point conversion attempt was not good, but North was on the board after not getting a single first down through three quarters.

North attempted an on-side kick, and Bailey Brockwell recovered for the Panthers.

However, the team turned the ball over on downs, gaining only three yards in the process.

After another defensive stop, North regained the ball with one more chance to give themselves an opportunity to complete a comeback.

Bowen rushed for a first down from the quarterback position as a passing play broke down.
On the next play he completed a quick screen to Sharpe, who was met at the line of scrimmage for no gain.

After a sack and another short screen, Bowen's fourth down and long pass sailed incomplete for Sharpe.

Jacksboro regained possession one final time, kneeling out the clock.

North's regular season ended with a record of 3-6.

The Smoky Mountain Athletic Conference's Championship Saturday will be held Oct. 20 at Lenoir City High School.
