Hilda Hannigan Sampson

Hilda Hannigan Sampson, born Dec. 6, 1921 in Saint-Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada, passed away Feb. 20, 2013 in Lenoir City. Hilda moved from Canada to the United States at age 2. Her parents walked across the border with her in a baby stroller. She graduated from Westbrook College in 1980 with a degree in teaching. Hilda worked at Breakwater School for five years. She loved gardening, sewing and making puzzles with her friends at River Oaks.

While living at River Oaks, she worked at her daughter's grooming shop making dog cookies and clothing. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Hannigan and Herbert Sampson; sister, Rita Gott; parents, Yvon and Mary Ann Miville; and brothers, Gerald Miville and Philip Miville. Survived by her children, Mary Ann Fryling and husband, Skip, Elizabeth O'Donnell, John Hannigan and wife, Donna, Dotty Boozer, Linda Foote and husband, Robert; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Irene Dennison, Hazel Pellerin, Yvon Milville and Yvonne Trott; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Memorial services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Click officiating. Burial will be in South Portland, Maine.
