John D. Aikens, 68, Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. He was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church in Lenoir City. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former pipefitter with the local union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lori Ann Aikens; mother, Gertrude Aikens; father, John Wesley Aikens; sisters, Jessie Collins and Barbara Presley; son, John Randal Aikens and devoted aunt, Ada Huffine. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Aikens Chapman; grandsons, Casey Wilkerson, Zachary Chapman, Nick Chapman, Corey Chapman, Andrew Aikens, Tyler Aikens and Darrel Aikens; granddaughter, Nicole Wilkerson; sister, Patsy Aikens, along with several nieces, nephews and friends. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George Seay officiating. Family and friends edproceed to Simpson Cemetery for graveside services. Military honors were conferred by the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard.
