William “Unk Ed” Edward Sprarker, 92, Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 at the Baptist Health Care Center.
Ed was a deacon of Dixie Lee Baptist Church where he had been a member since 1947. He was a member of John Wade's Sunday school class. Ed retired from Y-12 after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lela Blanche Eblen Spraker; father and mother, Elmer Fred Spraker Sr. and Addie Grace Magill Spraker; brothers, Robert Rex Spraker, Elmer Fred Spraker Jr., and Avery Leeper Spraker. He is survived by sisters, Margaret Walsh of Massachusetts and Ruth Robertson and husband, Wayne of Dalton, Ga.; special nephew and niece, Russell and Barbara Borum and family of Kingston, Phyllis and John Marius of Lenoir City; nieces and nephews: Pamela Signorelli, Byron Zakos, Jimmy Zakos, Anthony Robertson, Geoff Robertson, Janet Robertson and Amy Robertson Gravitte; many great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to express a special thanks to Baptist Health Care, Morning Pointe and the doctors and nurses who took care of Ed. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with Dr. Jim Clayton and the Rev. Roger Hazel officiating. Family and friends gathered at the funeral home by 10:30 Saturday morning and proceeded to the Lenoir City Cemetery for graveside services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dixie Lee Baptist Church Building Fund, 14650 Old Stage Road, Lenoir City, TN 37772.
