Dixie Thurman Caldwell

Dixie Thurman Caldwell, 92, Loudon, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.
Dixie was a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church. He retired from Bacon Hosiery Mill, however, he wasn't ready to sit still. He operated the Dixie B. Grocery in Loudon, as well as running cars for Miller Motor Company, working the guard shack for Monterey Mushroom and most recently as a funeral assistant for McGill-Karnes Funeral Home. Dixie loved life, especially spending time with his three generations of grandchildren, whom he adored. He enjoyed being with people and shooting pool at the senior center with his friends. He was preceded in death by parents, James Calloway and Claudia (Smith) Caldwell; wives, Ruth Caldwell and Helen Caldwell; daughter, Peggy Brackett; sisters, Edna Russell and Mabel Townson; and brother, Lawrence Caldwell. His survivors include grandchildren, Cyndie Hill and husband, Charlie, Loudon, Caprice "Boo" Lennex and husband Jamey, Greenback, and Jason Brackett, Alabama; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, the Rev. Joe and Sally Caldwell, Sweetwater; Daniel Caldwell, Loudon, and Jimmy Caldwell, Dayton; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Roy Shubert and Sara and Art Fensod; and special caregivers, Chad and Polly Evans. Services honoring and remembering the life of Dixie Caldwell were held 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Goodwin officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Dixie Caldwell may be made to the Corinth Baptist Church, 6100 Corinth Church Road, Loudon, TN 37774.
