James Harrison "Jim" McLendon, 84, Lenoir City, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Baptist Health Care Center. Jim was of the Baptist faith. He served the Loudon County community for many years at Greer's Hardware in Loudon. Jim also enjoyed working the land and farming. A special thanks is extended to the staff of the Morning Pointe STAR Unit and Baptist Health Care for the excellent love, care and attention to Jim during his time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Roxie (Samples) McLendon and his brother, Bill McLendon.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Mary (Lindsey) McLendon; daughter and son in-law, Jamie and John Tuck; granddaughter, Marin Tuck, all of Lenoir City; nephew, Bill McLendon and wife, Marsha, of Loudon; niece, Brenda and husband, Bob Dalton, of Madisonville; sister in-law, Evelyn Grimes; nieces, Melissa and husband, Bill Shirk, Becky and husband, Rodney Webb; and nephew, Roger Grimes, all of Loudon.
Services honoring and remembering Jim McLendon will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at McGill-Karnes Chapel with the Rev. Joe Watson officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park. Contributions in memory of Jim McLendon may be made to the cemetery fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lakeside. The family will receive friends 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at McGill-Karnes Funeral Home, Loudon. www.mcgillkarnes.com
