Ethna Sue Johnson Amos, 98, Lenoir City, went home to be with her Lord Saturday morning, Sept. 14, 2013. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she started the first library.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Smith Amos; son, Smith Dwight Amos Sr.; brothers, Oakley and W.B. Johnson; and sisters, Lois Liles and Volena Mourfield.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pam Amos of Erwin; grandson, Smith Dwight Amos Jr. and wife Susie; granddaughters, Susan Almond and Sherri Wright, all of Lenoir City; Laura Freshour and husband, T.J., of Greeneville; great-grandson, Brady Freshour of Greeneville; great-granddaughters, Brittany Wright, Krista Amos Cornett and husband, Wesley, and Kelly Archer, all of Lenoir City, and Ava Freshour of Greeneville; sisters-in-law, Emma Lee Amos and Nell Wilkerson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating. Family and friends gathered at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, and proceeded to Pleasant Hill Cemetery for 10 a.m. graveside services.
