Gaither Charles Yates, 83, Loudon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013. He was a member of West Broadway Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Gaither was a retired sheet metal worker with Engert Plumbing and Heating. He loved farming and animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Myrtle Yates; brother, Jerry Yates; and sisters, Kathryn White and Rita Cooper.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Nola Fritts Yates; daughter, Sandra Campbell and husband, Jack; grandsons, Patrick, Ryan and Colin Brennan; brothers, Ray Yates, Raymond and Dorothy Yates, Rob and Teresa Yates; sister, Cora and Roy Huff; "adopted family," Missy Smith, Chris Jenkins, R.L., Teresa Branam, and his loyal dog, Peppi.
The family received friends 5-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at West Broadway Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Gamble officiating. Family and friends gathered at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, and proceeded to Loudon County Memorial Gardens for 11 a.m. graveside services.
