Wanda Beryle Blankenship Dinwiddie, beloved twin sister of Wayne Bruce Blankenship, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at her home after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer.
Wanda was born on June 10, 1939, in Sweetwater. She was a proud graduate of the Lenoir City High School Class of 1957. Wanda then attended Knoxville Business College. She enjoyed playing bridge for over 50 years with her friends Jo Ledbetter, Catherine Duff, Maxine Whistler, Betty Fulton, Diane Rhea and Bonnie Ledbetter. She loved her Lady Vols friends, her devoted neighbors, Sue Brookshire and Marvin Martin, and her two cats, Josie and Zeke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Gene Blankenship, Will and Bertha Cornell, and Irene and Gilbert Blankenship. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Ross E. Kerns and his staff for their wonderful and loving care.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Josephine Sands Blankenship of Lenoir City; treasured niece, Heather Elizabeth Baker and husband, Robert David Baker, of Nashville; beloved nephew, Andrew Wayne Blankenship of Lenoir City; and many devoted first cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City with the Rev. Micah Nicolaus officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
