Walter Mark Longworth, 62, Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Walter was a longtime member of Philadelphia First Baptist Church. He was employed many years at Maremont and later with Johnson Controls. He loved to work, and he worked for fun. He especially loved farming and his cows, and, of course, anything to do with John Deere tractors. Along with his wife Betty, they grew exceptionally beautiful flowers on their farm for commercial use.
He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Longworth.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty Prince Longworth; daughters and son-in-law, Tammie and Rich Walker, and Janey Jo Longworth; son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Beth Longworth; and mother, Axie Brooks Longworth, all of Philadelphia.
Services honoring and remembering Walter Longworth were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Philadelphia with the Rev. Brian Courtney and Mrs. Ruth McQueen officiating. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, in Roberson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of the church, P.O. Box 45, Philadelphia, TN 37846. The family will received friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, prior to the service at the First Baptist Church, 606 Church St. Philadelphia, TN.
