Virgil Wesley Jenkins, 86, the Poplar Springs Community, Kingston passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2013 at Roane Medical Center.
Virgil was a member of Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan of all Kingston sports teams. Virgil enjoyed working on his farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Stella Jenkins; sisters, Carrie Farmer, Lela Mathis, Maude Galyon, Hazel Guettner and Betty Abbott; brothers, Roy, Kenneth and Carl Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alma Jenkins; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Henry Tupis; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Martha Jenkins; grandchildren, Nathan Tupis, Adam Tupis, Andrew Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins; sisters, Laura Belle Wright and Ruth Bohannon; several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church with elder Ronnie Inman and elder Danny McGee officiating.
Burial followed at Kingston Memorial Gardens.
