James "Jim" W. Poe, 77, Englewood, formerly of Sweetwater, passed away on Saturday March 23, 2013. He was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church of Sweetwater.
Jim was a well-known minster and farmer in Monroe and Loudon counties.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Hunt Poe, infant daughter, Donna Kay Poe, parents, Hubert and Elja Poe, brother, Harold Poe, grandson, Zachery Shultz.
His survivors include wife, Mary I. Paige-Poe, Englewood, sons and daughters-in-law, David and Carrie Poe, of Philadelphia, Danny and Lisa Poe, of Sweetwater, daughter and son-in-law, Elja and Darrell Vann, of Sweetwater, son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jeannie Paige, of Athens, daughter, Judy Hemphill, of Englewood, grandchildren, Russell and Laura Poe, Donna and Johnny Duncan, all of Loudon, Andy and Katie Poe, Chris and Anna Poe, Felicia and Jody Gaston, Ross Poe, all of Sweetwater, Allison and Chris Everhart, of Riceville, Gail and Andy Burchfield, of Decatur, Allen and Casay Vann, of Loudon, and Alex Shultz, of Athens, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard and Sherry Poe, of Philadelphia, Gary Poe, of Sweetwater, sisters and brother-in-law, Earline Coppenger, of Sweetwater, Reva Worley, of Goode, Va., Wilma and R.W. Edgemon, of Philadelphia, several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends 5-7 p.m. Monday March 25, 2013 at Kyker Funeral Homes, with the funeral service following at 7 in Kyker's Chapel with the Rev. Sam Loy, and the Rev. Jim Henry officiating.
