Mildred Louise Jenkins, 91, Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013. She was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Lenoir City and lived many years in Houston, Texas.
At a young age she tapped danced at the Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco. Mildred was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Floyd and Mildred Sherrod; son, Paul Allen Jenkins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emerson Sherrod, Andrew Sherrod, Elwood and Barbara Sherrod, Huchaile and Ada Sherrod, Glen Sherrod, Mike Sherrod, Charles and Rula Sherrod.
Mildred is survived by her grandsons, Shawn, Scott and Steven Jenkins; several great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, James Herbert and RoseMarie Sherrod; sister-in-law, RoseJane Sherrod; many nieces and nephews; special canine companion, Peggy Sue and her special friends at Hickory Valley Baptist Church.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City., Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Carpenter officiating. Family and friends gathered at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens for graveside services. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
