Norman S. Sampson Sr., 76, Athens, formerly of Loudon and Gainesville, Ga., passed away Wednesday Feb. 13, 2013 at his home.
He was a retired employee of AT&T Norcross, Ga. A member of CWA union and served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lucille Smallen Sampson and brother, Lowell.
He is survived by wife, Genive Stephens Sampson; daughters and sons-in-law, Cristie and Kevin Hamil, of Knoxville; Tammy and Jeff Saunders, of Gainesville, Ga.; Jean Jones, of Madisonville; sons and daughter-in-law, Allen Sampson, of Athens, Rick and Donna Sampson, of Loudon; grandchildren, Jamie and Joy Saunders, Robert and Matt Jones; five great-grandchildren; niece, Lisa Sampson Thaker, of Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan and Albert Presley, of Loudon, Judy and Arnold Bowen, of Millersville, Mo., Ronnie Stephens, of Loudon; cousins, Stan Sampson, Normalene Gentry and Leonard Sampson and his beloved pets Dixie and L.B.
Funeral services were held 8 p.m. Friday at Loudon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Lawson and Hospice Chaplin Kevin Becker officiating. Interment was 10 a.m. Saturday at Christiansburg Cemetery with military honors conferred by Loudon County Honor Guard. Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Loudon Funeral Home.
