Stephen Clay Voland, born July 30, 1967 passed away Tuesday,
Dec. 18, 2012 after over a year and a half battle with a rare cancer.
He is survived by his wife
of 12 years, Terri Bailey Voland and their dog, Eddie, both of Lenoir City; his son, Josh Clay
Voland, currently in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Polk, La., and his daughter, Elisa Marie
Voland, currently attending Baylor University in Texas. He is also survived by his mother, Judith
Voland, of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Christy Voland of Knoxville, and a dear
friend, Mark Jenkins, of Lenoir City.
He was preceded in death by his father James
Voland.
Steve served more eight years in the U.S. Army as an EOD team leader, at various
locations throughout the U.S. and overseas.
After leaving the military he pursued a civilian
career in the UXO field where he worked at EOD Technology Inc. for more than 15 years. He earned his
way through the ranks to serve as senior vice president of operations where he oversaw the general
managers of the company's business units, and supervised the corporate operations and logistics
managers. His last year with the company he was appointed as the chairman of the board of advisors.
This fall he decided to follow his heart and open Voland Bait & Tackle in Lenoir
City.
Receiving of friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at Click Funeral Home in
Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John Wagnon officiating. A private
burial will be held.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Stephen
Voland Research Endowment Fund, in support of neuro-oncology, at Vanderbilt University. Click
