Robert “Bob” E. Thomas, 88, Lenoir City, passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 26, 2012.
He was a member of Hudson Grove Church of God. Bob was a graduate of Lenoir City High School and attended the University of Tennessee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was retired from AT&T/Western Electric.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jewell Thomas; father, Fred Thomas and wife, Edna; mother, Mae Vinson Thomas; granddaughter, Christina Thomas, and brother, Jack Thomas.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Bob and Lee Thomas, of Cumming, Ga., Linda and Neal Scarbrough, of Lenoir City, David and Wanda Thomas, of Aiken, S.C., Jim “J.R.” and Brenda Thomas, of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Elliot, Brian (Angie) Thomas, Karen (Mike) Hurst and Allison Wallace; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Chase Elliott, Loren and Andrew Thomas, Emily Hurst and Nathan Wallace; sister, Betty Miller, of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ernie Varner officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a. m. Friday in the Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services.
