Fred R. Sanders, 89, Lenoir City, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. He attended the University of Tennessee College of Engineering.
Fred served in the Signal Corps in Detroit, Mich. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a founding member of the Oak Ridge Sportmans Club and past president of the local Airstream Club.
Fred was retired from Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, farmer and world traveler. He was the youngest and last remaining of 16 brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Millsaps Sanders.
He is survived by his children, Annette Sanders Stevens and husband, Dick of Knoxville, and Doug Sanders of Lenoir City; two grandchildren, Sarah Boertge and husband, Jason, and Graham Flanary; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Boertge and Raegan Boertge; many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Citico Baptist Cemetery for graveside services with the Rev. Eddie Click officiating.
