Amanda Lu Hudgins Slone

Amanda Lu Hudgins Slone, 75, of Lenoir City, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at her home. Amanda was born in Obion on May 26, 1937, daughter of William M. Hudgins and Bunar Little Hudgins of Obion.

She is the wife of Buddy "Roger" Slone, originally of Big Rock, Va. The couple married April 2, 1983, but have been a couple since 1969, 41 years of love and devotion. Amanda worked for 13 years at Guardian Glass in Michigan as an inspector. Buddy worked at Ford Motor Company and after retirement they moved to Lenoir City in 1999.

She was a member of the Lenoir City Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mable Heskett; brother, Tom Hudgins and several brothers-in-law.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her sisters, Thelma Gilbreath of Savannah, Loma Escue of Columbia, Bea Poling of Caldwell, Ohio, Sue Oakes of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty Seigle of Maryland, Patty Rodiguez of New Boston, Mich., Brenda Slone and Lea Downey of Novi, Mich., Barbara Bast of Redford, Mich., Don and Sue Slone of Eastridge, W. Va., Ben and Marie Stanley of Melvindale, Mich., Doug and Ginny Slone of Madisonville, Blake Slone of Sandusky, Mich.; stepson, Michael Slone; grandson, Steven Bloxom both of Michigan; a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins, among them her grandniece and namesake, Amanda Thompson El-Zein of Ashburn, Va.

The family received friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22 at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services followed at 11 a.m. with Mr. Steve Riley officiating. Burial followed in the Lakeview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Johnny El-Zein, Randy Thompson, Clayton Thompson, Jason Hillaker, Roger Cunningham and Mike Poling. Ben Stanley and Doug Slone will serve as honorary pallbearers. Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
