Ruth Crowder Richards, 90, Knoxville, formerly of Loudon, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2012 at Atria Weston Place.
Ruth was a member of The Lord's Chapel. She was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College and the University of Tennessee. Ruth was a former teacher and librarian before beginning her 34-year career in 1950 as a proud and dedicated employee of Delta Air Lines. She was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Dot Crowder; sister, Helen Crowder; brothers, Joe and Buddy Crowder and son-in-law, Lee Ford.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sarah Ford; granddaughters, Erin Nguyen and husband Ian, Hayley Denton and husband Ben all of Knoxville; great-grandsons, Liam and Jackson; sister, Rachel Walker; several nieces and nephews. Services were held at The Lord's Chapel, with the Rev. Ann Robins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of the Knox County Public Library, 500 West Church Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37902, Blount County Humane Society, 1005 East Broadway, Maryville, TN 37804 or to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1001 Ebenezer Road, Knoxville, TN 37923.
