David Jonathan Burdette, 48, died at his home on Grove Road in
Loudon after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of Stone Mountain, Ga. and the son of
the late Sarah Nelle Rogers Burdette of Rutledge and the late Charles H. Burdette of Georgia. Sarah
and hers sons moved to Rutledge in the early 1970s.
David was a professional truck driver his
entire adult life and loved his time behind the wheel. David was a driver for Averitt for many years
before driving for his own company. When his mother became ill, he arranged his schedule so that he
could be home every night in case he was needed. He said one of hardest parts of dealing with his
illness was giving up driving.
David is survived by his wife Laura Beasley Burdette;
daughters, Danielle Burdette Boggs and husband, Joshua and Deidra Burdette all of Knoxville; son,
Zach Burdette of Knoxville; granddaughters, Camilla Renee Boggs and Alyssa Asalee Tillett of
Knoxville; step-daughters, Ayla and Amber Breazeale of the home. He is also survived by a brother,
Douglas Burdette and wife Pam of Blaine; nephew Cory Burdette and wife Emily of Rutledge and niece,
Katie Burdette of Blaine. Other survivors include an uncle, Otis Burdette and wife Linda of Young
Harris, Ga..; an aunt, Sue Rogers Henson and husband, Bill of Elberton, Ga. and numerous cousins and
friends.
The family received friends on Monday, Oct. 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Hawkins Chapel in
Lenoir City with a celebration of life following at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
