Amy Ellen Nichols Rice, 78, Lenoir City, began her journey
through the labyrinth of life on Sept. 19, 1934 and completed it on Sept. 22, 2012.
She was
a member of Kingston Pike Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star #188. Amy retired from the
Department of Energy and worked part time at Adesa for several years. She was the best jelly maker
in East Tennessee and enjoyed crafting and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her son,
Wade A. Rice; grandson, Philip A. Costen; parents, Bert and Etta Nichols; and brother, Elwood B.
Nichols.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Nelson Costen of
Virginia Beach, Va., Terri and Ed Ramsay of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Sandy Rice of Knoxville;
grandchildren: Paul Costen, Mark Costen, Laura Costen Todorovic, Tory Rice, Erin Rice, Zachary
Ramsay and Gwythian Ramsay; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Alex, Luke and Philip; sister and
brother-in-law, Norma and Sam Gardner of Lenoir City; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Peggy
Nichols of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from
5-7 p.m. Monday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with Dr.
Ronny Jones officiating. A private interment will be held. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is in
charge of arrangements.
